I have just recieved the results of my latest cholesterol test, and am confused.
HDL. cholesterol. 2.67. mmol/L 0.9 - 10
Cholesterol (presuming this means LDL.) 6.4. mmol/L.
Total Cholesterol: HDL ratio. 2.4
Would this indicate anything?
Thank you

This is how doctors USED to diagnose hypo, by the sudden raise in cholesterol. DO NOT under any circumstances take statins as they mess up the thyroid even more!!
Hi Mostly it is just the total cholesterol that cardio`s bother with, as that is what is treated, some of it is good some not so. It is not very high ,although for "normal" people should be under 6. Wait until your thyroid is stable and then ask for a new test. That is providing your BP is fine. If you are on Statins, it takes a while to find which one is best for you, side effect wise. Always go on really slowly, half the dose, or every other day. Take 1-2 weeks to build up to the prescribed dose, then retest in 4 months.Unlikely to cause nasty side effects then, thyroid can be compensated if needed.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Thank you Reallyfedup123, Glynisrose, Jackie, you have confirmed what I was thinking. I would not even consider taking statins, but will see if I can up my meds' gradually.
Thank you again for your response.
