Hi I imagine you must had had your ovaries removed to, but this is unusual. I know people do take thyroid treatment with this drug. However, I would ask to see an Endo, find a good one yourself by researching etc. Then ask for a referral. This is all Endo`s field. In view of the upheaval of hormones with your body, personally , I would feel it was a good idea.Your thyroid, if a problem , could also be worse.

Best wishes,

Jackie

My own experience is that long term synthetic HRT has had a very detremental effect on me able to use T4 properly. you might find this website interesting

If I had known then what I know now I would have gone with the natural hormones, both oestrogen and progesterone.

yes estrogen affects your thyroid levels as estrogen increases thyroxine binding globulin levels which in turn bind more thyroxine causing your TT4 to increase and your FT4 to decrease and your TSH to increase. if you have a functioning thyroid it would produce more thyroxine due to the increased TSH. But if you don't have a functioning thyroid you will need to increase your dose of thyroxine if you have higher estrogen levels and decrease your thyroxine if you take less estrogen. Aim to keep your TSH between 0.5 and 2.

Hi Shelley. I don't take any thyroid treatment although was doing - natural thyroid and adrenal prescribed by Dr P. I'm off these due to my nhs doctor sending me to see and endocrinologist. Dr P asked me to do a hormone tests and had me go on a bio-hormone cream by wellsprings which was absolutely fantastic. I did read a book The DHEA Breakthrough Stephen Cherniske, MS who is not a fan of premarine but most definately a fan of bio-hormone treatment. Dr P as you know is a Thryroid specialist but has his finger on the pulse - no pun intended - of all related things of the endocrine and hormone system. Best Samfalulu
