Has anyone had one and can let me know your experience. I am booked in to have one on 11 December 2013. I have a 3cm cyst on right side of my thyroid which came back after FNA and is now quite painful. Would love to hear from you.

I had right lobe removed 33 years ago and all was fine. No medication needed and totally normal life and three pregnancies. I now had the left side removed 24/6/13 due to seven nodules. All well so far and 1st time ever on thyroxine. So you don't need to go on medication necessarily after you loose one lobe. The second works ok and produces enough hormone for you to be fine. Best wishes .

Hi I had one 3 years ago, found it to be hashi when tested. Now take 125mcg Levi. Looks like the other half his nodules now. You'll be fine once its done, promise!x

Thanks for your replies :) I have a slightly overactive thyroid at the moment but my consultant said my levels were near enough normal. So will get the surgery done and then see how the remaining half of my thyroid decides to act, hope it gets its ass in gear lol. He did say that if there were problems after surgery he would send me to an endo. Not too worried about having the surgery, will be glad to get this lump out. Thanks again all. xx
