Ft4 and reverse t3

Hi. My Tsh is 0.7 my Ft4 is 14.3 ,i still feel tired with lots of pain, am on100 eletroxin every day with an extra 25 every second day is my FT4 low,also can anyone tell me about reverse T3 they wont do it in ireland,any ideas thanks

Hi - do you have the range for your fT4 please? They vary a lot by lab so it. Hard to tell if its high or low ? Thanks xx

Hi its range is 10 to 19.3

Your fT4 is slightly less than midrange and I think rT3 is usually associated with high fT4. It looks to me as though you would benefit from an increase in T4 or the addition of some T3. Have you had your fT3 tested?

Hi my doc sent the test to the lab,they wouldn't do it,I was told only my Ft4 and Tsh need testing, they only do wat they see fit in Ireland, I feel tired sore all the time,dx 2yrs ago wit myemdema crissis due to un dx hypo,only time I have felt ok was when on125 eletroxin every day doc reduced it cause tsh was0.1 and ft4 was 19.1 ,any ideas pls

Unfortunately most doctors are obsessed with TSH and don't like it to be below range. There is a book available over here called "Understanding Thyroid Disorders" by Dr Toft, a former president of the British thyroid association. In it he says that some people need a suppressed TSH and above range fT4 and that this is ok, so long as fT3 is in range. I would suggest purchasing this book and showing your doctor. If only they went by symptoms rather than blood tests :( you need to go back up to your old dose from when you felt well. My TSH is <0.02 by the way and my doctor is ok with this as my fT3 is in range :) Good luck. Xx

Thank you I wil look up book, go back on 125 everyday,my doc is great but its the hospital labs that won't do the tests, Pls can u tell me what is the ft3 range that would be good, don't know if they will do it seen as they refused before, thank u for ur help ,,am also on vit D,my fertin is low as well
