Tpo ab test results help please?
I think everybody has a small amount of antibodies at times. 9 is certainly nothing to worry about and most likely means you dont have auto-imune hypothyroidism. Mine are in excess of 1000 on a similar range, although thats not particularly normal
Thank you so much for your reply from what I had read online having any indicated a problem.
The very testing mechanism has its own imperfections so a cut-off at zero would be wholly inappropriate. For example, one test might return zero when another using different technology could return, say, 10.
We can argue about whether the cut-off should be 34, or 32 or 38 or some other number. But somewhere around there is a practical and pragmatic limit. It might be sensible for someone with "high within range" to be retested after a while (in case they were caught before the number had risen, or it was an insignificant blip).

The bathtub curve of statistics says from the refs. that a small proportion of healthy people have TPOabs in the low 30's.
If you're worried about your thyroid, your reading isn't high enough to cause worry & your GP is right.
It's good to have a ref. point though, so in future you can compare where you were previously.
Levels in the 100's are of note and CAN go very much higher in Hashis.
I haven't looked closely at TPOs, just to check my results [same as yours]- so this is just an overview to answer your question.
