What happens to the body and endocrine system after a Total Thryoidectomy? How does it react? And why does it react in that way?

I had a total thyroidectomy in July due to Multiple Nodules that had grown, one of which had grown very large and descended into the chest cavity. They were all benign. Although I am recovering very, very slowly, it would be good to know what the old bod is going through. And if I could support it in any way.

I had a full one 18 years ago for a large goitre due to graves. I have taken my levo but never really changed any other habits, bloods checked annually, and I had been fine until this year when I had 3 nodules grow which have now been removed. Having mine removed was the best thing I did, I was a real mess with graves
