Over the last few days I have more revved up, have lost a bit of weight, had some relief from constipation and have noticed an improvement in my skin condition, does this happen with Hashimotos?

It can....  Are you hypothyroid because of auto immune disease?    ( hashimotos). If so, as the thyroid is killed off, it releases more thyroid hormones which can send you hyper.....   Doesnt last that long though it is horrible.      Eventually your thyroid is. Overwhelmed and you become hypi all the time.....

Are you on meds?

Thank you for your reply which is interesting. I actually like the hyper feeling and recognise it as something I have experienced many times in the past when I have been very productive but have crashed out afterwards. I am not taking medication yet as I have only just received a diagnosis I should have had years ago.

If you have Hashimotos, one of our Thyroid doctors who was President of the British Thyroid Association recommends taking thyroid hormones, even if bloods 'normal' due to the antibodies to 'nip things in the bud'.

My Endo says that she cant rest me whilst "swinging" as the levo would make the hyper symptoms worse, by sending me more hyper!

email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk and ask for a copy of the Pulse Online article by Dr Toft ex President of the BTA.

In the meantime, your Endo is fine about the antibodies' continued attack on your thyroid gland - you will become hypo either way, i.e. trying to reduce antibodies by going gluten free or levo. Levo wont stop the attack but might help.

I'm afraid I have no idea what your post refers to.

It's regarding that there is an assumption that you have antibodies and remain untreated and your thyroid gland is being attacked by antibodies. which means, usually, that the person swings between hyper and hypo . Louise warvill has a copy of the article in which the expert says levo should be prescribed. The other articles are self-explanatory.

Yes this has just happened to me for the first time! Can't believe how much I did yesterday but body still felt tired I just couldn't sit still. Blood test has shown I'm hyper but literally was taken on the day I switched. I like the feeling but know it won't last long so making the most of it. I'm Hashimoto's too and on 100mcg was diagnosed in February and have my first endo appt in 3 weeks x

Have you been having symptoms for a long time before being diagnosed?

Yes I've always said I have a low immune system and thought I was deficient in vitamins especially B12 as I had little energy. For the last 4 years I've had bad inner trembling which for 2 years I've been on Propranalol thinking it was anxiety. But since January all my symptoms were very severe and I felt tearful all the times. I went to my GP he ran a blood test and my TSH was 149. So I was put straight on 50mcg levo after 3 weeks and a throat scan diagnosing Hashimoto's thyroiditis it was increased to 100. I think my symptoms have got worse although not sure if this is from the flare up and would be worse without medication. I still have severe inner trembling but am pushing to be tested for other autoimmune diseases particularly addisons. I'm trying to cut out gluten and take supplements but I'm not very good at remembering. I'm hoping my appt with my endo with run thorough tests and investigate more. What's your situation and how are you coping? X

Strange perhaps but after months of being sluggish this is just wonderful having some energy feeling thinner etc. This is how I used to feel years ago, could I have been hyper then?
