Not helping saying its depression which I disagree with. Has anyone had this problem of any advice on what else I can do? Would a thyroid antibody test be useful?

Thanks all.

Hi Gardener-girl

my doc kept saying it was not my thyroid even with all the symptoms of hypo. I asked for blood test for TPO antibodies [317 (range <49)] which came back positive and doc still said it was not my thyroid as my TSH and T4 were in range and would start treating me once my TSH was 10 !

I eventually convinced her for a trial of levothyrixine to see if it would help, had 25mgs for 2 months which I had about 5 good weeks then all symptoms started coming back, doc couldn't believe that I had been feeling better I am now on 50mgs for last 4 weeks with another blood test due in November with good and bad days.

Do ask your doctor to do the antibodies blood test and get your B12, folates & ferritin checked too.

Hope you get the treatment you need !

If you have a print out of your blood results post them on this site with the ranges and some of the other members will advise you. I now always ask for a print out of my blood tests from the surgery receptionist.

My cholesterol was also high which is another symptom of thyroid problems have a look on this web page you will be surprised by the amount of symptoms !

Hi Also, make sure that you have tSH, T4 and Free T3 done, FT3 was always done, why many years ago I finally had a diagnosis of Hypo.It was actually below range. be sure to ask the GP for a copy of any bloods including the vital. If these a re difficult use a good on line Lab, I use Blue Horizon, but DIY, venous ( needs someone) or finger prick. Do not go through Spire or Nuffield as very expensive that way. range, just ask the receptionist, your blood, entitled to it. often GP`s do not agree with us on blood results.

Best wishes,

Jackie
