Do you feel healthy? Normally TSH plus free T4 and free T3 are needed to evaluate how well the medication is working. If you have fibromyalgia, I suggest one of those test results will be OFF. Here are some links that may help you to understand this. stopthethyroidmadness.com/m... stopthethyroidmadness.com/l...

Wow, thank you for those two connections. I'm a bit blinded by science but 4 people I know have been given thyroxine by a private doctor and their fibromyalgia is so much better. I think I may seek help with a private doctor as our GP's are really pretty useless. I don't take any medication at the moment but I think the thyroid link is one to follow.

Fibromyalga is just a doctors cheat diagnosis really you have thyroid disfunction!! FM is a SYNDROME and therefore can be dismissed by doctors especially the ones who don't believe in it!!! Its a bit like when you tell the doc you have joint pain and they immediately diagnose arthritis, its just a cover all bases diagnosis!!

I was interested in your reply to Heloise with regard to Fibro Myalgia.

I was like you & thought the same so kept an open mind as Idid when I was told I had ME....I thought just another label for we dont know what is wrong.

I have Hypoparathyroidism, Hypothyroidism, FM, Sjogrens & osteo arthrihtis.

Do muscle problems go hand in hand with thyroid disorders ?

I find no matter what muscles I use through out the day.......maybe Ihave tried to lift something or tried to mop the floor I suffer the most awfull muscle pain.......this I put down to the so called FM.

I have to take Vit D & calcium for my parathyroid issues........i'm on 175mcg of thyroxine & my consultant has agreeded to try me on a small dose of T3 at my request.

Confused........Jillymo X.......

Thyroxine helped some of my thyroid symptoms, but those which I always attributed to fibromyalgia REALLY improved when some of my t4 was replaced with t3 - hopefully you'll find the same effect. Good luck!

As sad as it is that's what many of us rely on, pure luck !

It is only a small amount of T3 I am going to be given 10ug I cant see such a small amount being of help. Jillymo

Not everyone needs a huge amount to feel the benefit - I found 20mcg changed my life. Maybe, if you notice some improvement, your dose will be increased. T4 needs to be cut down, correspondingly, of course.

Yes, muscle and joint problems go hand in hand with thyroid dysfunction!!

Not that I'm saying Fibromyalgia doesn't exist, more that it is more likely to be an untreated thyroid condition!!
