I have the same problem and find that the only cream that keeps it under control is the moisturising eye cream made by Clinique. If I forget to use it it flares up again.

Oh I will have to try this. Steroid cream works too but can thin the skin apparently so not really recommended

this sounds very much like ' thyroid eye disease ' ---- which my lady is currently being treated for by moorefields hosp. in London ------ these are only some of the symptoms ..... there is a national research program going on at the moment called 'CIRTED' to ascertain the optimum treatment program .....louise at admin has all the details of this .... hope that this is of some help to you .....alan

if you contact louise at admin she should be able to give you details of the cirted trials and the reasoning behind them as I sent her all the details ..... the main information that I believe to be at this time is that one of the reasons that some people contract T.E.D. is from the medications for thyroid conditions.......but in many cases they cannot be certain [ direct answer from the senior consultant at moorefields ] ----- my lady is being treated in the ADNEXAL dept. after being reffered to them by her endo at st.barts ........she is currently being treated with steroids ....... hope this helps ....alan

Doctor normally gave me Hydrocortisone 1% which is steroid I used it quite a lot but it has blackened my eyes so stopped using it...God knows when I will find something which will relieve me...presently I am applying 2 things 1. Calasten cream, 2. Elizabet arden's skin protecting cream which helps but still...need relief

Hi

I had something like this ,i thought it was exema , my eye lids were itchy flaky and red ,but i started to see some black with it too,The doctor said it was eye lash mites UGH

HIS REMEDY WAS WASH IN BABY SHAMPOO.

i CANT USE THIS AS I AM ALERGIC TO LANOLIN sorry caps on

I washed them in ordinary soap rinsed well ,then used a cotton bud soaked in hot water ,cooled of course

and bathed them it works MORNING AND NIGHT AND AGAIN IF THEY STARTED TO ITCH (sorry caps on)

if this helps ...I have a friend that is extremely allergic to lanolin and his gp prescribes a special soap/cleanser that comes in a tub [ looks similar to vasaline ] but this really does work ,....if you wish I will get all the details from him and send them to you ----- let me know ....hope this helps...alan

hi back to you , my friend uses ' EPIDERM emollient skin cleanser ' which he receives via prescription from his gp [ he also uses it in the bath ] ......because he is allergic to lanolin ---- which is within nearly all cleansing products----- it comes in tubs similar to tubs of vasaline [ that's how I would describe it ] -----but it does work ...he even uses it after shaving to take away the effects of the lanolin that is in shaving gel/cream / foam etc .......and it works for him ......lets hope it works for you if you give it a go......please let me know if you need any more info .....LoL alan

Hi This is one of the symptoms of eye disease ( thyroid), my eye surgeon, some years ago, said to wipe them with cotton wool buds and boiled water with a tiny drop of baby shampoo in ( I could not normally use it), do this at least 2 a day. then use preservative free eye drops afterwards and as often as needed ( script). It is also one of the symptoms of Sjogrens disease, auto immune, which I have. With that, normally later on more symptoms and throat agony all the time ( not sore), no secretions in the body.I would try the treatment and if it works, continue. I have found it marvellous, for many years.

Best wishes,

Jackie

My optician said my eyes very dry but doctor says that's common. he said dry eyelids just allergy.

Hi Opticians, however good, not like seeing an eye surgeon. Try what mine recommended and see how it is. I had it for many years before I saw her, not nice! The bathing + lots of frequent drops, especially when out, should do the trick.

Best wishes,

Jackie

I too get this when my levo dose needs adjusting, its my tell tale sign. I use coconut oil which seems to help really well. I found the prescription hydrocortisone just stripped all the skin off my eyelids! yuk!

I had this problem before I was diagnosed and it went away once on treatment. Are you on the optimum treatment. What is your TSH. I find 0.5 is good.

I had flaky, red, burning and sometimes paper cuts in my eyes, and then I started having diaria and pain below my belly bottom, went to the doctor for the eyes and he gave me some fungus medicine (cream) that did not help me at all, I stop eating gluten and all of my problems disappear.
