Hi yes you will feel out of sorts for quite a while until you body adapts.don t forget you have had a general anasthetic which will also affect you.How much thyroxine are you on?I was on 125 to start and then dropped to 100 which seems right for me.
Make sure you are taking your thyroxine 2 hours before food they don t seem to tell you this in hospital.
It will take about 6 to 8 weeks to feel normal( what ever that is)
Good luck. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
im on 75 at the momemt but to be fair i am only 16. yeh they didnt tell me that actually thank you. i feel fine most times but then have really bad moments. my operation was the 25th of july so yeh i guess i still have a way to go. i feel alot healthier but i get moments where i get really tired or feel low
jalestar, was it removed because of Graves'? I had mine done at 18 after 5 years of Graves'.
Whatever the reason, your body has had a major organ removed, and also an general anaesthetic, it will take a while for your body to recover from the shock.
Any increase in thyroxine has to be done gently but at 16 your body needs thyroxine to do the growing and changing which it is in the middle of, so I hope they will be giving you a bit more than 75 eventually. The last thing you want at this crucial time of your life is to be short of thyroid hormone. I hope you have a good Endo who will look after you. Feel free to voice any concerns on here, no matter if you think they might seem trivial.

I have been on a roller coaster ride for over 2 years after finding out that my health problems all my life have been down to Graves Disease , I was not diagnosed with it until it attacked my eyes, which are very severely effected I have double vision so bad I am classed as partially blind and carry a white stick, but my case is very extreme. I am still recovering from my op as my GD antibodies are extremely high, my Dr tells me it will take a least a year for my body to recover, but my gallbladder needs to come out, and I'm having my bowel troubles investigated early September, so don't be alarmed my case is very complex. I do hope you have very understanding doctors and family and friends,
I wish you all the very best, and hopefully your recovery will be straightforward, love yourself and take all the rest you can, don't push your body too far, know when to give in and take complete rest and take duvet days like I do whenever your body needs them,
My heart goes out to you, I am thinking of you and other sufferers constantly xxxxx
