Interesting to see we're getting noticed :)

This is a USA article- where their upper limit for TSH is 3 so the problem will be worse in the UK, with nearly double the limit ,before any notice gets taken [if lucky]

Yes good publicity but what rubbish is the endo spouting the NDT (DTE) is harmful to preganant women :( But at least he dose recognise that some people need T3.

I have sent the following email to the Journalist:-

Good morning

I live in the UK and belong to a Thyroid Support Group - healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk (Thyroiduk.org) and was interested to read your column in The Wall Street Journal.

I noticed the Endocrinologist made a comment about Natural Dessicated Thyroid Hormone and would like to bring to his notice a scientific document produced by Dr John Lowe (RIP) who sent the following to the British Thyroid Association and the Royal College of Physicians:-

thyroidscience.com/Criticis...

Many endocrinologists are unaware of the benefit to patients who are denied therapeutic treatment because of their unscientific views on Natural Dessicated Thyroid Hormones. I am one of many who have benefited through (eventually) the use of NDT and if a patient isn't getting well on levothyroxine alternatives should be offered. NDT has been in use for more than 100 years so it is a grand-fathered drug. It is more synergistic to our bodies than synthetic. Also as more women have thyroid gland problems than men, they can have such a struggle coping with everyday life when always unwell with clinical symptoms being treated as separate and unconnected to their thyroid gland. There is also weight gain which is very, very common due to being dosed or undiagnosed according to the TSH levels.

For instance one NDT has never been recalled in 75 years and neither has it been recalled for inconsistent T3 or T4 hormones unlike levothyroxines.
