Intermittent Fasting not good for Adrenal Fatigue...

I saw this article posted on the Scottish Parliament Petition facebook page and thought some of you might find it interesting. tinyurl.com/pj9ufsz

It mentions that intermittent fasting, whilst very effective, is not a great idea of you suffer from adrenal fatigue until you have recovered. Your body won't adapt as well as it should to burning fat instead of carbs. If intermittent fasting didn't work for you, this might be part of the reason why.

I just thought this was an interesting read and wanted to share :)

My partner and I have been giving it a go but I found it more of a struggle than I had anticipated. Despite eating lots of raw veg and veg soup (a la the WW 'points-free soup' of yore) and drinking lots of water and green tea I was properly ravenous all day. Could be because my t3 dose has been increased I guess - ? I seem to be more hungry now.

I had (have?) adrenal problems and haven't got my last set of test results back yet to see if they have improved.

I tried WW, was hungry all the time and actually gained weight. Slimming World, on the other hand, left me feeling satisfied because I could eat as much as I needed, whenever I needed, and I did lose weight. Obviously it's important what you eat. Unfortunately the last couple of years no diet at all has worked. I think my body had had enough!

If I diet again, it will probably be SW again. I don't think it stresses the adrenals too much. When my adrenals are completely recovered, I might try the 5:2 diet. It does have many health benefits, but clearly not if you are suffering from adrenal fatigue :(

It's interesting isn't it? Everyone is so different. I lost over three stone on the WW diet. When I was doing it I was never hungry. You could eat as much as you wanted of all the points-free stuff (mostly green veg, carrots, tomatoes, etc, and soup made with veg) but I know they change things around every so often so maybe when you did it it was not so accommodating. I guess the difference is that I was quite heavy then and the first two stones just melted off but now I'm not as heavy and I need to make bigger changes to make a difference if you see what I mean. And it is harder trying to make changes now that I live with my partner than it was when I lived alone. To be honest, I find the fasting much harder than I thought I would, even though it's only for one day at a time. Can't I just stay fat? :-)

Interesting. I tried the 5 2 diet for 4 weeks, and although easy to stick to, lost no weight.

How's it going? I know a few people are doing really well on it, but they don't have adrenal issues. One friend has got back control of her blood sugar doing it :)
