Intermittent fasting and cancer...

Hi, I thought you might find this interesting, I have been looking into intermittent fasting and found this article and video that makes this way of losing weight very appealing both for losing weight but more importantly for health.

articles.mercola.com/sites/...

Also has anyone put into practice the 16: 8, way of eating combined with the 5-2 fasting, you consume no calories at all for 16 hours out of every 24. All food and drink (except water, tea, coffee ) must be consumed within an 8 hour time period. This could be any consecutive 8 hours during the day. But for most people 11am-7pm or 12 noon-8pm work best. Simply skipping breakfast and avoiding after-dinner snacks is usually all that is required.

What sort of results have you had?

Interesting! :D

I've lost 4 stone on 5:2.

16:8 sounds interesting..! :) Although I do actually quite look forward to my breakfast after a fast day! LOL! xx

Wow! Well done Louise! How long did it take to lose 4 stone?

I've just started the 5:2 and I don't eat before 10am and after 6pm. It'll be interesting to see how it goes. I'm finding it quite easy so far...

Have been doing it nearly a year - which I suppose actually sounds a bit rubbish! LOL!

But for me, this isn't about losing the weight, it's about never putting it back on!

Also, I have never felt this healthy!

I've friends that swear by this eating plan, and they're rudely healthy! i think your weight loss time sounds amazing - im just hoping to lose the extra weight I put on with Carbimazole - about 1 1/2 stone, which is proving stubborn to shift! I'd be really happy with that, and I understand it can be tweaked either way accordinginfly for maintenance.

Keep me posted!

Not rubbish, Brilliant! Keep it up

Lola,

Really sorry to rain on your parade and I'll probably get boo'd off ( especially as Louise loves it) but ........

This may work for people who have strong adrenal health but many with mismanaged thyroid issues have compromised adrenals and blood sugar problems.

Thyroid meds needs food to work properly as not meeting your bodies needs for adequate fuel will further force amounts of cortisol and adrenaline to be secreted. High/low cortisol interferes with the HPA axis which in turn suppresses thyroid function and also weakens the immune system.

Irregular meals will cause a hypothyroid patients metabolism to slow (conserving energy) and so increase the amount of fat stored. They will also encourage low stomach acid that will allow bad gut bacteria to flourish and inhibit digestion and absorption of foods.

Flower ( obsessed with blood sugar levels & don't even have a problem myself ! ! 😉 )

Thanks for your reply Flower re, weight loss and the thyroid

It's an interesting subject isn't it, here is food for thought;

If you are worried and didn't want to try the 5-2 you could try just the,

16: 8 regime you consume no calories at all for 16 hours out of every 24. (most of them you are sleeping) All food and drink (except water, tea, coffee ) must be consumed within an 8 hour time period. This could be any consecutive 8 hours during the day. But for most people 11am-7pm or 12 noon-8pm work best. Simply skipping breakfast and avoiding after-dinner snacks is usually all that is required to loose weight.

This is a link from the blog above it seems leaving a long gap between taking thyroid meds is beneficial.
