Because of heart issues so they don't want to take the risk. My GP gave me T3 with the warning "it can cause heart attacks and strokes" and my endo is even worse than her. He explained that when taking T3 the heart gets an almost instant hit of thyroid hormone which can make the heart irregular and in turn can cause problems.

Also they won't prescribe for fear of being brought before the GMC!

The only treatment until thyroxine became available was natural desiccated thyroid and that is part T3.
