Does anyone suffer with crampy muscle pain when... - Thyroid UK
Does anyone suffer with crampy muscle pain when exercising? not sure if this might mean I am on too low a dose of thyroxine or too high?
I had cramp in my thigh while I was at my Pilates class yesterday. I get horrendous cramps during the night most nights but I'm not sure if I'm over or under medicated either, I've had them when I was both hyper and hypo active.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Hi
If you have any recent blood test results, please put them on here (with ranges) and then someone will have a look at them for you.
I have had this problem for many, many years when not having enough thyroxine. You can only be sure of the cause by looking at your results.
It can happen when you are under- or over-medicated, so it is always good to be sure.
Hydration, yes always important; but not many people are low in salt here though, unless you are following a low salt diet or have a type of low adrenal output causing Hyponatraemia (in which case Fludrocortisone might be a better idea than the salt!); as processed foods are full of it and most people have more than is good for them, (hence Government advertising suggesting no more than 6g a day!) - however low Magnesium is a VERY common cause.
Whilst Hypo or not I suffered this problem for DECADES since being a teenager until I discovered this!
It appears a LOT of the population are deficient, some quote as many as 65%! (plenty of info out there if you search, don't just take my word for it)
Test if you feel it necessary, (or intend to take large amounts) but If I were you I would trial low dose oral supplements (the type you get in supermarkets) to see if that is enough to resolve the problem first. If it is, it usually works pretty quickly within a matter of days or a week. If not try stronger or other methods.
I use transdermal Magnesium chloride (buy it on eBay, dilute in water, use spray!) as it is very cheap, convenient and causes no diarrhoea. see drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Magnesi...
