Iron suppliment: I have just added iron... - Thyroid UK
Iron suppliment
Always take supplement about 4 hours apart from thyroid gland medication. Does it say on the iron pills to take with food? Some members who take iron will advise.
This is a list of foods to avoid.
I think the thing with some food stuffs like broccoli & spinach etc is that they're ok if well cooked, as cooking destroys the goitrogenic elements. Just don't use them for juicing or raw in salads etc.
What type of iron is it you're taking - some are easier on the digestive system than others.
They are from healthspan just called iron care...irion 14 mg (100)
1, a day...take mine after a meal.
its quite common for people to be intolerant of iron supplements. i am prescribed ferrous fumarate 3 times a day and can only tolerate it twice so that's what i take! its taken nearly 2 years to get my iron up on this big dose as i had non in my body at all! I am also vegeatarian and semi gluten free and now hypo! having to change my routines with the levo and all my other meds, bp, reflux etc!!
Oh ! what a nuisance bodies are, I just wish all the pill taking wasn't so complicated....
Still as long as we can still laugh about it just now and then life is still worth living.
