I'm on 50mg of levothyroxine after being diagnosed at the start of this year.
This site is really helpful, but I've noticed lots of people talk about appointments with their Endos. Should I be seeing one of those? I've only seen my GP so far...

Why have you been prescribed the Levo?
I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid
Hi beligo. I have never been to an endo either, just managed by my GP with levo so far. My daughter was referred straight to an endo so maybe it depends on your age!
Some people choose to be referred when they are not happy with the treatment from their GP. Lots of them have no clue about thyroid probs.
Ah ok, that makes sense I guess. My GP is very sympathetic. How much she knows about it I don't know, but I suppose I'll stick with her until I have a problem with it. Thanks
Yes I saw an endo, because as above said, GPS don't seem to know much. It is very complex and affects people in some very different ways. If you are happy with what your GP is doing for you that's great, and you are very lucky. Keep well
if at any time you feel that you need referring to an endo .....please please contact louise at admin for the list of PROPER specialists [ some so called endos are specialists in diabetics and some are not even specialists ] then you can make an informed choice of where and who you trust your health with ..... it may well be very important to you at that time ......LoL alan
