I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Plus the above, which I believe is Myxedema.
But still my palliative nurse denies that I have this. I have had another test but I bet I fail that one too. I have vitamin B12 deficiancy diagnosed but they made me have another test for that I wonder why?

I had 'shiny legs' from the knee downwards about 2 years ago. My skin was flaking so badly in that area it looked like a bad case of dandruff. I thought the shininess came from thinning of the skin due to excess flaking. Doctor just gave me some cream to apply, which didn't stop it flaking, just made it less noticeable. However, since increase in thyroxine it has much improved and although a little dry still no longer shines.
My skin is flaking too . My thighs are shiny too. My doctor gave me cream for that too. I didn't bother it was too much now they are flakey and shiny. I keep failing their abysmal tests.
I hope your op goes well I will say a prayer for you
I either have really shiney shins/below the knee or really flakey (like super bad dandruff). I didn't realise shiney skin was a problem too? Why do they go shiney?
Interesting. Mine chop and change between the 2, I can't actually remember the time where I've had normal legs??? I find I also get painful stretch marks on my thighs. Sometimes they are itchy and painful, sometimes they're not.
Hi, I've only just found about the shiny legs issue and I've noticed my lower legs (the areas from under my knees to my ankles) are quite shiny but not flaky and my knees sometimes go red at times. I use a lot of moisturisers (Aveeno, E45 and collagen gel) on my skin as it's prone to getting dry/sensitive, do you use anything like that for the time being or is that liable to make the shininess worse?
I have Aveeno E45 too but I can't bend over any longer to do it. I would certainly not ask someone else to do it for me. My shiny legs arrived overnight so they look awful dry and shiny
