Hi If you look on line at "thyroglogulin the test" there is very good info. I imagine, that as in range it is OK. Do Genova not have a doc who checks results before sending them out.? Blue horizon do They advise you on further tests, seeing an Endo etc, if anything bad.Make sure she has had blood tests for TSH, T4 and Free T3 + important ranges to be sure her thyroid levels are Ok, not clear if treated or not.I still do not think it is so worrying unless it goes higher, With the correct thyroid treatment it should lower a bit, Still best to have a re check in time.I hope that helps.

Best wishes to you both Jackie

thanks very much. my mum got all other thyroid bloods as within range so no concerns there. I think her excess fatigue is due to other health problems.

She is seeing dr tomorrow to discuss.

Hi Just a thought. If she has problems swallowing or with her voice or even if a swelling visible. An ultra sound of the thyroid , may be a good idea. With autoimmune thyroid disease, most are, then she may have an enlarged thyroid and nodules.. Routine is to have these biopsied. Also make sure she has a PTH test ( parathyroid). This shows initially on 3 bloods test which must be done together Am. PTH, Corrected calcium and vit D. If all high or 2 above range and D high for her. Then a nuclear scan of PTH and CT scan,Large teaching hospital., done together. If the GP no help, may be worth seeing a good endo, choose with care.

I hope it all goes well.

Thyroglobulin means she has got hashimotos, even if TSH labs are normal, these antibodies are attacking her immune system and eventually she will become hypothyroid. mine are reaching 700 range and I feel like rubbish. She has Autoimmune D and needs the attack managed, her fatigue and other symptoms are the result of the anibodies.

There are two test TPO and TG even if only one of these test come back out of range, this is a good indicater that her thyroid is being attacked, thyroglubulin is actually in the thyroid gland.

hope this helps, specialist have no treatment other than managing the attack by taking thyroid meds, gluten wheat will compound her symptoms. Advise her to cut these out and keep a copy of her thyroid blood results with ranges.

hi Merissa,

Thank you very much for your helpful e-mail. Do you think the TPO AND TG blood test is one which her GP should do for her or is it something she should get done privately?

My mum did have radiotherapy about 4 years ago for a cancerous lump in her right arm. Can Hashimotos result as a side effect to radium treatment?

I hope you feel better soon.

kindest Regards,

Gimi-energy.
