Armour trial, one week on ....

I began self treating with armour last Thursday, so I am now on day eight taking half a grain first thing and half a grain just after dinner. Not sure about definite positives but nothing bad as yet.

I have had a few days feeling warmer BUT we have had about five days of very warm weather and i still wore jackets over long sleeve tops to feel ok when others were just wearing a tee shirt or such like.

Yesterday i felt poitively warm at work, this is very rare unless i am having a 'flush moment' and they are always brief in nature. Anyway I stayed warm right through until mid evening when i cooled down somewhat. I am mid cycle , so wondered if this could be linked, however I cannot think of any days over last few months or further back when this has been the case before, yes hot flashes, but not hot days.

This morning I awoke at 4.10 am Eurghhhhh, with a twinging pain on the right hand side of my groin area, I took my temp unaware of what the time was and it read 36.5 . This is pretty rare for me , I was randomly taking basal temps last month and saw one at this temp, but wasnt keeping a record, however the last few weeks pre armour I began noting the temps , they are always 36.2 and 36.3 without fail which made me realise that I must be ovulating. Then It dawned on me that the groin pain reflected this. Years ago I used to get one sided groin pain some months around ovulation, but have not experienced this for quite some time. I am peri menopausal so didn't think anything of this (my mother and her mother went through early menopause and I am following suit) However my mother has a thyroid condition too so I am not sure which condition aggravates the other.

So I am now wondering, does NDT affect ovulation etc, the fact I was warm yesterday, raised temp and groin twinges? Never plotted my temp prior to this but I did have a 36.5 before which leads me to believe this was already happening prior to armour, but the twinges and 'warm day' are definitely new. The only side affect that made me wonder if I was still ovulating before were very painfull breasts about a week or so before period.

Other than this I have been a bit less itchy, not sure if this is a fluke because my itchiness came in bouts and this could just be a reprieve time anyway, will soon see no doubt.

Still exhausted upon waking BUT once Ive dragged myself out of bed and showered I am a little better between ten and five, tiredness creeps back mid evening, but this is better.

Skin still dry and other linked ailments no real visible change but think these take time, but will be keeping close watch and reporting back.

Question is, is eight days enough to be seeing mild improvement or is this just the placebo effect. Also should I up the dose say by half grain or wait and see..... decisions decisions!

Low thyroid for sure stops ovulation.

I did wonder, it was just the 8 day issue that made me doubt this being relevant :)

wait another week before you look at going up. Yes some people feel some difference as early as a week in.

It's early days, it will all unfold as you go :)

Thanks for the tip nobodysdriving, this was a fair concern didn't want to undo any good by either under dosing or overdosing. :)

Good that you haven't had any negative side-effects (I felt truly dreadful going from 1/2 a grain to 1grain) - sounds like your adrenals are ok :) Hope things continue to improve :) xx

Hi clarebear :), I'm still keeping my fingers crossed but ok so far, will see how we go on next change. I'm seeing Dr Skinner early June so will no doubt get more advice then. Xx

I had an extra couple of periods soon after trialling Armour - maybe after 4 or 8 weeks.

More periods ??? Knew there had to be a downside I say Lol as long as I'm improving I'm happy to weather that :)

I don't know if you had a reverse T3 problem but as you bring that bit of T3 in from your NDT, it will work itself into the receptors which may have been blocked by reverse T3. I felt nothing but better when I switched from Synthroid to Armour. Just make sure you get on the right dose to keep your FT3 in the upper ranges.

Not sure re reverse t3 Heloise, but both ft3 and ft4 were almost bottom of their ranges. On day ten of 1 grain split into two doses, still a bit chilly again now though :( but generally fatigue and itching are getting better, once I'm actually up I feel less tired through the day, not right but definitely an improvement :) xx
