Help with these results please!

My recent test results, tsh 0.08(0.2-4.0), free t4 15.7(11-22.6), free t3(3.5-6.5), I am on 150mg of thyroxine, thank you gill

Hi You obviously had a low TSH like me, Some docs get a bit hysterical about it. Mine cannot be measured, so low. My endo and I just have to go by, how I am and T4 and Free T3.T4 your is just about Ok ,if you feel OK, other wise ,you may need a little more. I may be being thick but cannot see the FT3 result only the range.Normally, on the right treatment it needs to be near the top of range, but with low TSH ,only a very good doc will give you T3 on a script (with the T4)If it is low in range, then I would certainly ask for more T4 ( Levo). The T4 should convert into FT3 in the body. If it does not completely, common, then you need T3 also. You can tell by the 2 results. If T4 very high ( not at the moment) and FT3 low, all in range, then normally you would need some T3 to help the body. I hope that is clear, the FT3 result crucial.

Hi cookie, your ft3 is pretty low so I would guess you are not feeling really normal and have symptoms. Your T4 is also on the lower end. Your GP may call those normal but they certainly are not optimal. I would guess you need to raise your thyroxine another 25 mcg.

You haven't said how long you have been taking T4 but you should gradually increase nonstop until you get past your symptoms. Maybe your GP has decided you are at the optimal but you should insist you aren't if you are still symptomatic.

Thanks so much for writing back, I about been on thyroxine over 20 years, waiting to see a endo in June, finally got refered after a battle with gp. Left the doctors in tears with a box of antidepressants, but not going to take them, the gp accused me of pulling out my hair and eyelashes, she said that's what people do when they are depressed. Hope the endo will make a change, I am so tired! Thanks so much gill
