Does anyone know if low FODMAP diet can help with constipation due to Diverticula disease?
Worth a go as cutting out foods for a few days will let you know if you feel better or not.
Are you allowed ground up flax? Works wonders on constipation but not sure if diverticulosis will be agravated. Worth asking yr Dr.
1-2 tablespoons. If you grind up enough to last a few days keep it in the fridge as it can go off in warmth. I reckon you will see a difference in a couple of days.
Make sure you drink lots of liquid with or after as it soaks up liquid and becomes gel like. The extra liquid helps it move through your bowel.
Good luck
My daughter has kept her diverticulitis (painfully misdiagnosed for years!) following the plan in Arthur White's book Diverticulitis. I haven't compared the food recommendations to FODMAPS but there may be some overlap. Not just diet but mild exercise, etc.
i have diverticula, gastritis and constipation. i would like to eat flax but also wonder if it effects diverticula. will see gastroen. this week and ask about it. if i can find your question on this site again, i will let you know , later.
Taking magnesium citrate has helped my IBS and diverticula disease.
