Zoledrolic acid

Hi I have posted this also on the Osteoporosis page. I had the Zoledrolic acid infusion ( first one) nearly 4 months ago and since then I have had constipation some pain and bloating. I do have ibs and I am using fibogel to manage it. Before the infusion my ibs was calm and didn't need the fibogel. I just wondered if anyone who also has ibs has had this issue? It is very difficult and I dont seem to be able to find any other cases like it.

Thanks

I took Zolderonic acid infusions for 5 or 6 years in a row and developed IBS mixed shortly after but I don’t think they are connected.

No, I’ve had my gallbladder removed and now it’s a lot worse

Sorry to hear that. Do you think the Zoledrolic acid caused your ibs or the gallbladder situation?

I have IBS caused by antibiotics I had this time last year for a nail fungal infection. A year later I am just beginning to introduce more foods and things are a bit more settled.

I have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis and would have to have the infusion because of my IBS. I’m already anxious about the side effects but thought it wouldn’t affect the gut as much as the tablets. I’m even more concerned now!

Hi thanks for your reply. I have been told that there are people with ibs and other bowel issues who are completely fine after the infusion. You can only try it and see how things go. I went ahead with it as I was trying to do the best for my bones. I am waiting for this to wear off now.

I have had ibs for years. It is a very difficult complaint. Please take all the advice you can from the medical professionals regarding the way forward to treating your bones. It is so important to take care of your bones. There are other treatment options available.

Take care and best wishes

I'm not sure whether that injection is what I was offered when my osteo was diagnosed. I refused it because I didn't feel that my condition needed it, no broken bones etc. The doctor did mention that many people can't tolerate calcium tablets although she didn't suggest the injection was likely to worsen the IBS. A quick google search suggests tomatoes are good for increasing bone density, but a bad trigger for IBS! Same search suggests a side affect of the injection within the first few days can be an upset stomach. I don't know the answers, but I've shifted my focus from managing my diet to control the IBS to choosing foods to increase my bone density. I don't want to end up a bent over old lady.

It is so difficult with ibs because so many things upset it. Bones are so important though. I have to wait for this to wear off now.
