I have had IBSc for many years and diverticulitis - now I am suffering from I presume Tenesmus and I wonder if anyone has some remedies for it. Thanks

tenesmus

sorry to hear this. You are not alone. I have IBS mixed and sometimes feel similarly to you.
I don’t have any answers, I feel it’s caused by the inflammation and irritation in the colon. If you look online, there’s a suggestion that you should get checked out just to make sure there’s no other cause.
I sympathise having had bouts of tenesmus including currently. I am due a sigmoidoscopy next week , I've had these before and internal prolapses have been discovered causing the tenesmus. Prolapses then treated by banding. Procedure and treatment uncomfortable but not painful. Recommended seeing a colorectal surgeon.
Yes I get bouts of this as well so sympathise totally. Worse when on my feet but ok sitting & lieing down.
thanks all - I have had all the normal checks and basically been told is side effects of IBS and diverticulitis! Today had good BM after morning enema and will be fine rest of day. Tomorrow who knows!
