Hi everyone. I had a call from the hospital yesterday booking me for a colonoscopy next Friday. This was completely out of the blue and a follow up to the one I had 6yrs ago.
It has taken me a bit by surprise, but I realise that it is a good thing to look after yourself.
I received the letter and bowel prep this morning and have read the diet sheet included.
I just have a question for you all as to whether white jasmine rice is OK to eat in the 3 days prior to procedure. I am sure last time it was OK but that was 6yrs ago, and sometimes things change.
Diet sheet doesn't mention rice at all to eat or not to eat.
Sorry I seem to be going on a bit now must be the stress of it all.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Take care Pollyboo.

You can eat white rice I am sure, the sheet should include Do & Dont foods. I think you should stop any food that is colored like vegtables, beetroot..etc
Hi, thank you for replying and your good wishes. My sheet did not include rice in the do or don't list, but on research I think rice is OK. Take care Pollyboo
Hi Pollyboo! Funny, I’ve just been looking at do and don’t foods too! I’ve got my colonoscopy on Thursday so my low fibre diet starts Monday. The leaflet in my pack was a bit vague but there’s quite a bit of information online which suggests white rice is ok. Good luck 😊
Hi, yes the leaflet is a bit vague. I think I panicked a bit and felt a bit overwhelmed. Hope all goes well for you on Thursday, sending you best wishes. Take care Pollyboo.
This is my second routine colonoscopy to see how much my diverticulosis has progressed. The procedure itself isn’t too bad, it’s the prep that’s nasty! Makes me so ill but it’s got to be done!
Hi, I’m just about to start my prep now. Awful stuff, makes me so ill but thankfully only for an hour or two. Not sure which prep you have but I get given Plenvu. I’ll update after my exam tomorrow morning!
White Jasmine rice should be OK since this will be fully digested in the small intestine. Though there might be a time up to which you need to stop eating too which should be on the information leaflet. This looks helpful:
