referred wind pain

I have had a few appointments a couple of weeks ago dentist doctors etc and as usual IBS was a major problem just to get me out the house now it’s calmed down again but my anxiety levels have stayed very high I had 3 days this pass week with no bowel movement at all but to day I have incredible wind and have been to the loo 4 times in a few hours has anyone had pain in the armpit that comes in waves like referred pain lots of belching then pain calms down

I get pain in my left shoulder and right round under my armpit and it always seems to be linked when I have a lot of wind. To the point that if I massage and press on my shoulder it seems to make me burp. I recently asked the gastro consultant if this could be connected but he dismissed my comment as nonsense.

That sounds so familiar to me. When I was a child I used to take great delight in massaging my Nan's shoulders as it always made her burp. My mum always used to joke that as she'd had a number of organs removed, appendix etc, she must of been hollow inside and full of wind. I'm not sure if she had it at that time but my nan later on had ulcerative colitis. Reading your words it seems like that is probably the reason for it. Don't worry about what your 'expert' said. It sounds very plausible to me and you know your own body better than anyone. Unfortunately in recent times my family and friends have had consultants and doctors get things wrong and in one particular case, very badly wrong. They don't know everything, they're only human.

Well I agree with you bad wind lots of shoulder pain continued most of the day only relief was to keep burping
