Indigestion symptoms

Hi … I’m still waiting on results of colonoscopy biopsies- it will be 3 weeks on Monday - I’ve chased results with secretaries and results were in last week so waiting on appointment with gastro consultant. Secretary said she will send email for me as I am having really bad symptoms that are sometimes unmanageable and have led to me taking time off work for the first time in eight years. This is largely because I’ve been unwell since Christmas so I’m absolutely drained. I am having burning sensation in upper middle stomach with sharp, sporadic pains under left breast and under left rib. This to me feels more like gastritis or something but wondered if colon information can cause pain in these locations? If anyone has had this type of pain it would be good to hear about it… thanks

No you should have an endsocopy for those type of symptoms, not colonoscopy. Yeah sounds like gastritis or dyspepsia, i had that from an infection one year but it got better. I followed restricted diet white gf bread, chicken, rice, fewer veg in stirfry and vegetable soup for 5 monhts and took probiotics which were really soothing for the pain - try vivomixx drops

You describe my symptoms Lastboyscout6. So far I don’t seem to have got anywhere - I think partly because I have additional symptoms which medics seem to focus on. However, I do also consider I probably have gastritis now with what you describe. (At the moment my gastroenterologist seems to think food moves too slowly from my stomach to my small intestine so I will have a test for that in 6 weeks - she considers it might be the underlying cause of my SIBO which I tested positive for. She gave me antibiotics for that, which unfortunately didn’t seem to help.) I am concentrating on avoiding sugars and eat chicken, fish, rice, white pots, root veg etc… gave up on gf bread some time back as it didn’t seem to help, so I eat a small amount of white bread.

am concerned I am probably not getting full complement of nutrients and frequently have a day when I struggle to even get water down. I can’t drink tea/ coffee and tried oat milk (without sugars) for about 8 weeks but have now returned to a little cows milk. So I try to only change one thing at a time and give a couple of months to see the effects.

I doubt this info helps in a positive way and apologise for that. I wish you well and hope that your gastroenterologist listens well to what you say and will be delighted to hear what helps for you.

As LFhell says for symptoms from that part of your digestive system a Gastroscope is required.
