Ideas/thoughts

Hi everyone, I have suffered on and off from IBS over the past 20 years or so. Recently it has flared up with the main symptom being cramps and diarrhea. It is specifically at its worst post lunch on weekdays. Obviously, the stress of work may therefore be a factor, but I'm genuinely confused about the timing. There seems to be no link to what I eat either. Any thoughts would be gratefully appreciated.

From several years back I found that lunch would make me very uncomfortable with wind and nasty pokey feeling. Worst was anything with bread. When I had meetings I'd insist on a portion of fruit, but in the end I gave up having lunch at all. I don't have a particularly early breakfast and I don't eat too much of it. I got used to not eating eventually: it saves money and time (and the discomfort) and I'm better for it.

I feel exactly the same , I don’t eat breakfast as I don’t want to feel awful being at work all day , & I normally eat a biscuit & yogurt for lunch as I don’t want to feel bloated all afternoon whilst being at work , I also feel so much better for it . I have a proper dinner when I’m at home.

Understand completely my IBS d was prominent after lunch, and there is no connection to what I eat. For other sufferers they can't get out of the house in the morning, or in the evenings and there no obvious connection to what they eat as most of us know our triggers. So what I do now is I take a Mebeverine capsule have brunch and if my tum is going to react it's over before it's time for work. And there is always an Imodium if that plan fails😉

Yes had exactly the same. Type of food made no difference. Usually within 20 minutes or so of eating. Lasted for a couple of years then just stopped, that's not to say I don't get problems still but not with the regularity I did previously after eating lunchtime. However as we know with IBS the symptoms can come and go and change just like that.
