Hot water bottle -a good idea?

I am best buddies with my hot water bottle. I use it ever day and it gives me great comfort and eases tummy discomfort.

However, my husband says I'm doing more harm than good having it clamped to my tum all the time! I don't have it on my bare skin and it has a cover but I'm worrying a bit now.

But I don't think I can give it up, it's my No.1 comfort 😯

Hi your hot water bottle won’t do you any harm at all whatever works for you?? If you were taking a load of drugs that’s different !! But I find a hot bath soothes and that’s never done me any harm and I’ve been at this for 15 years ?? But some of the hot pads that you stick on they last for 8 hours and you can get them from any £ shop you can’t see them and it might stop your husband from making comments ?? I hope this helps

My hot water bottle is the best pain killer I have ever had for my IBS and my bad back and at least it is not causing harm to my insides like oral medication is! I will never stop using mine unless someone one day miraculously makes the pain disappear!

I'm exactly the same. I wouldn't say it was doing 'harm', far from it if it helps with your pain. However, my own long-term usage has left me with bad skin discoloration. It's not burns as it doesn't hurt, but it's left a mottled effect that turns red whenever I'm using anything hot on my tummy. To be honest though it's a small price to pay for the comfort I get.

I've got the same lovely mottled mark too, like you say, it's a small price to pay 😄

Hi, Perhaps your hubby needs to experience the discomfort of IBS so that he can appreciate the comfort it gives those that suffer daily. Carry on using it as I do, the hotter the better. Obviously with a cover on! 😊😊
