Hi, Mine lasted for weeks. 4 weeks to be precise. You could try imodium to ease it. As diarrhoea is awful and leaves you weak and lethargic.
It depends on the "level" of IBS. I had it for many months, until I modified my diet enough to "manage" the IBS symptoms.
Thank you for getting back to me, i get totally confused with what to eat. I get both constipation and diarrhea so the food that suits one doesn't suit the other one. But i am a worrier im a pain in the neck ha ha
Sounds like you have mixed or alternating IBS. I developed this a few years ago after years of IBS-D; at least that was predictably unpleasant and I managed it with a low fibre diet, but I find IBS-A/M more difficult because, as you say, one diet works with diarrhoea and the opposite with constipation! I think the first step would be to try to avoid food with insoluble fibre, and concentrate on those with soluble fibre, which is less irritating to the gut; I provided a list to huggit which you can see on her “Fibre in the diet” post.
Hope that’s some help.
Thank you so much yes you have helped. Im new to this community I hope i can find huggit to see the fibre diet xx
Go to the "Members" tab at the top of this message stream, click it and search for "huggit"; click on her name and it takes you to the list of her posts - the relevant one is the first on the list and, if you scroll down that post, you should see the 4 phone images with plant fibre details which I sent her.
Thank you so much ill try that
Thank you live but i must be a bit thick. I cant find Huggit or the diet.

My sympathies. I’ve ended up with severe stomach gripes (presumed IBS) after eating something which I was totally OK with the last time I ate it (as was the case with all other foods I had eaten that day). That’s the thing I find most frustrating about it: the unpredictability of it!!
Hello Ada1914 I think as we age our gut does weaken, that said there is no reason why we shouldn't get the once over from our GP, I have done exactly that. My attacks can be between 1 and 4 times a week. I just take Immodium when necessary. Good Luck
