If you suffer from hard, dry stools, constipation, stools that are hard to pass you can try: Magnesium Citrate
This has worked for me and may help you.
Besides drinking lots of water and working out, healthy diet
But Magnesium Citrate is known to put water back into your stools. If you take too much you will have diarrhea. Start off with small amount and increase as needed

I find it helps sometimes. But it is hit and miss. Please let me know which brand of Magnesium citrate you take and how much. I find if I take it on an empty stomach before bed with lots of water, it is more effective. I have to take a higher amount for it to work though. Between 600mg and 900mg.
Just a suggestion, but Magnesium Oxide is more potent in this regard. Magnesium Citrate is highly absorbable, which means that less goes to your bowels to draw in water. Magnesium Oxide has very low absorbability, which means that much of it ends up in your bowels. You might need less Magnesium Oxide, than you would need of Magnesium Citrate to have the same effect.
The tiny pills are 100g each, which means that they are easy to titrate up and down as needed to get the dosage right. I used to take these at bedtime for a response in the morning. I believe I needed around 800mg (8 pills) or more at a time, but I was very low fibre then. Some may need far less.
Hi Catsandsunsets, People need to try and find out why their poo is dry. Are there other symptoms beside that? It took me years, a referral to Urology and a very understanding and excellent researcher who was a specialist nurse at the unit. She realised after asking questions about my thirst, my skin, my diet, my eyes, my hearing, etc that I had an underlying health issue. She asked my gp to refer me...which they never did. I then moved opticians to Specsavers and saw a specialist consultant due to issues with dryness, itching, stinging, random blindness, inability to look at natural and other forms of light, my eyelid rubbing my eyeball, etc. I was constantly in A&E for eye loss and pain as well as deafness. They gave me 4 months of steroids fir ny eyes andxreferred me to a specialistoptical consultant. The optician at Specsavers tested my eyes and told me I had Sjogrens syndrome - an issue with dryness all over and inside the body. I checked with my previous optician who stated that they knew I had Sjogrens syndrome but didn't let me know 🤬. I informed Urology and was prescribed Docusate tablets which I take x4 each day and the difference is absolutely amazing. No pain, no straining, no blockages, no issue sitting down or standing up, no laying down due to pain. I've had 2 mini procedures with plugs inserted in my eyes and use eye drops and oitments daily. I also have my extremely dry ear wax removed every 6 months. I still drink absolutely loads of water, tea, coffee, Peppermint tea and eat a massive amount of boiled sweets. I also have a gel and special mouthwash to help with the dryness in my mouth. Like my skin, my dryness in my mouth and throat is something I feel I'm constantly chasing as it wakes me up, has me constantly peeing and stresses me out. I hope you get the opportunity to get yourself referred and listened to. All the best 😍
