hello everyone, I recently began to take metazipan 3 times a day and it has really helped reduce my abdominal pain. Problem is my bowel movement frequency has increased and I’m now hav8ng close to 20 significant bowel movements a day, I was having around 10 previously which was bad enough but 20 is unmanageable and super stressful. All of the movements are loose and high volume and contain small food fragments and small lumps. It’s relentless and even after all of these bowel movements I have no relief and it all starts again the next day despite consuming very little food. Has anyone on this forum experienced frequent solid(ish) bowel movements despite consuming small amount of food and have antidepressants increased frequency further? Not sure which is worse the pain or the non stop bowel movements. Nice choice!
Thanks in advance for your helpful feedback

So sorry to hear of your suffering but I just had a look online and it does list Diarrhea as a side effect from the medication that you are taking. I was treated with antidepressants to try and help with nerve pain and certain ones did make my bowel movements much more watery so I do think you should talk to your gp or gastro whichever prescribed you the medication.
Wow that sounds extreme....and would think high risk of not just loss of having any normal life but dehydration? That one needs to be discussed with GI. doc.
Hello, so sorry to hear of your bowel problems. Must be horrendous to have that many bowel movements in a day.
I found 20mgs of Amitriptyline (2 tablets) in the evening helped a lot with my bowel issues. Also prescribed 2 Colesevelam (625mgs each) each day as I was diagnosed with chronic IBS and Bile Acid Malabsorption after having my gall bladder out.
Hopefully, a gastroenterologist or your GP, might prescribe something that will help you.
