IBS/D TO IBS/C

Hi there everyone who is suffering my feelings and thoughts are with you all. I was wondering what the hell is going on with me. So for the the last 4 years I have had awful diarrhoea had all tests done including a colonoscopy everything came back normal. So for the last 4 years I have tried every diet every probiotic/prebiotic kept a food diary avoided going out to certain places at certain times especially after eating as it has been so urgent to get to the loo in time. Now I have been having one to two bowel movements a day no diarrhoea for the past two weeks and I have even started eating proper bread again. What the dickens is going on. Can anyone relate to this thank you 🙏.

That's IBS for you. It comes, it goes. It changes from C to D to M and back again.

My mom had colitis for all her life - that may be it - it comes and goes but doesn't respond well to stress - or eating. If we were going out to an event she would eat nothing, that way she knew she wouldn't have to rush...however, I also had something like this some time back and it took almost a year to return to normal. I think I had a bacterial infection or some sort of food poisoning and it set me up for "the runs" the moment I even smelled food. Sounds like the colonoscopy checked things out - so now a good gastrointestinal doc might help you - I remember my mom used to take kaopectate to stabilize. Hope this helps!

Hi thanks for responding sounds like you’re mom has had it rough and yourself sorry to hear that. I’ll look into what you have said it’s just so weird that after all this time I’ve had a bad stomach and now I’m pooing normally. I’m not complaining mind but it’s so strange. Thank you once again. 🙏

Hi

The one recommendation I would have for a colonoscopy is that you be sedated ! I had a horrific experience a few years ago and was not sedated , this time I was and it was fine ! Lots of people have no sedation and are fine that was my personal experience !

Is this the correct topic for this response? I know I just responded to another post about colonoscopies, so maybe you meant to put it there.
