It can be very difficult to generalise diet advise as the foods that one person may be able to tolerate another may not.

On our website you can find diet advice, however this is limited as it is not something which can be generalised. What food one person may be able to tolerate, another may not. On our website we provide information about certain foods and food groups which can be known to trigger IBS symptoms, as well as recipes designed to be suitable for the sensitive gut which you may find useful. You can access our diet section here - theibsnetwork.org/diet/so-w...

You need to find out what your triggers are and what food affects you you can do this with a wellness dairy theibsnetwork.org/blog/how-...

With regards to food triggers, every individual is a little bit different. The best place to start is to keep a food and symptom diary for two weeks and to look for a pattern in this. It may be best to get the support of a registered dietitian. You could also look at the BDA IBS factsheetbda.uk.com/resource/irritab...

This factsheet discusses common triggers for different symptoms and looks at your eating habits also.

Hi, one of the biggest problems with IBS is that food triggers tend to be different for everyone, my best friend has IBS and can't eat yogurt but can eat popcorn, while I'm the opposite. The best thing to do is to keep a food diary of everything you eat and drink for about 6 weeks, as this will help to identify any triggers.

I tend to watch my fibre intake and avoid raw vegetables. I would be careful with artificial sweeteners especially sorbitol (tends to be in chewing gum and fruit squash) as that can be a trigger for a lot of people. Keeping hydrated will help and try to avoid stress, I've had hypnotherapy for my IBS which really helped, there are some good apps for gut related hypnotherapy.

Not what you're looking for?
