Hiya, I so far have a diagnosis of BAM but still waiting on test results and more tests. I have just gone back to work and whilst poorly with my bowel I was put on a high level of ESA. I have previously been advised that you can claim PIP for bowel conditions especially in relation to how I have been suffering. I do know that BAM comes under the equality act and employers should do as much as is possible to support you within the work place. I have just gone back to work and struggling but I also have multiple health conditions. It would be interested to know what benefits are available as I would still like to work but dont think I can manage full hours. Please keep us updated as to how you get on. I really need a diagnosis so I can look into things more. Hope you feel better soon.

I am sorry to hear about your other conditions, can fully understand that it makes things harder. I have MSK issues and just recently been diagnosed with lung fibrosis and am awaiting an asthma test. So I understand how hard things can be. Hope you manage to find out more information and you feel better soon

Hiya, I have been under a gastroenterologist since June 2022. I have just kept on at my GP and the gastroenterology service at my local hospital. I havent had the test yet for BAM I hope to get it in October as there has been a 9 month waiting list, I was also classed as an urgent case. I still have inflammation showing in my stools which has been raised since May 2022 which makes me think I have more going on. I am awaiting my biopsy results and I have had a small bowel MRI Scan. All my biopsies so far have shown inflammation and this hasn’t been addressed . Although I am on medication for BAM my tummy is still not settled and I also try to stick to the low FODMAP diet. I just experiment with food and I am slowly finding my safe foods. The only advice I can give is to keep on at your GP . I was ignored by my GP in 2018 when my bowel habits changed but then everything got worse in April 2022 after a simple tummy bug. I really didn’t realise there were so many y tests that you can have for different bowel disorders. I think I have BAM and inflammatory bowel disease but need to wait on results and further tests. I do hope that you manage to get sorted and get referred, I was referred due to the inflammation in my bowel. There is lots your GP can test for before referring. Good luck with it all and just keep at the GP. If I hadnt pushed my GP I wouldn’t have had a follow up after my first colonoscopy as they don’t do it routinely. I was too ill to be ignored, hope you get sorted

I think that is all you can do is to keep pushing, although I have had lots of delays in appointments with the gastroenterologist. I have had a real struggle with it all and you really don’t need that when your not well. I wish you luck with it all, I hope you find a dr the will listen, so you can get some answers.

I would say it depends on how your 'illness' affects your daily living and mobility. Have a look at the benefitsandwork.co.uk website. It will give you a guide as to if it is worth applying. Also if you decide to apply do the course they offer, well worth the money, it gives you a full understanding of the questions asked on the PIP form and how to answer them.
