The professionals that I am working with are still working out what is wrong with my digestive system and it is probably a combination of things. An eating disorder being one of them.
As a result of the eating disorder l “feel” I need to take 2 senna a day to be able to use the toilet or just to clear out. I’m not sure it’s necessary or if it is psychological.
Part of the treatment I will be receiving is therapy for the eating disorder side of things and to come off the senna.
I’m wondering if taking senna is causing some of my symptoms, namely the nausea and belching. Does anyone else have side effects for taking this? I’ve been taking 2 a day for 3 years now.
I’d like to think once they get me off the laxatives the symptoms that I find the most unpleasant will go away. Thanks 😊

I tried senna capsules in the past but because it can be a histamine releaser / mast cells activator (you'll have to find out yourself if it has adverse effects in your particular situation I think) my body can't tolerate it. Leads to increased inflamation in my situation and that is something you don't want to happen. However, my mother (78 this year) has been drinking senna ☕ (tea) for decades because of her functional bowel problems and she seems not to have adverse effects.

"Potential Dietary Triggers for Histamine Related Disorders:
Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, IBS with mast cells, Interstitial Cystitis, Chronic Prostatitis, and Migraines
Note this list is very extensive but it does not mean that everyone with one of these disorders actually will be affected by one or many more than one food."
