Thank you for your sympathetic replies. At least I know I’m not the only person with this problem. Laughed at the idea of a support group. The coffee mention gave me food for thought. Unfortunately I don’t like decaf and don’t drink tea or any other hot drink . I relish the 3 cups I have in a day and having tried to detox on one occasion I felt so I’ll with an extreme headache that I had to give in. Nevertheless I will try a gradual detox again and see if this makes a difference.
Best wishes to fellow sufferers.

Does coffee give you a very hard time? I don't find it has a huge impact on my IBS.. Basically what I mean is if I am going through a decent IBS phase generally I can happily have my morning coffee and while it will stimulate me to go to the toilet about an hour after getting up in the morning, it doesn't make me unwell or cause upset.
Even in not-so-good a phase it doesn't seem to have any dramatic effect.
I experimented for a number of weeks a while back, with camomile and peppermint teas in the morning and have to report that my gut still behaved in exactly the same way as it does now.
There are some good benefits to coffee actually. It is I have heard, protective for the liver, apart from being tasty. And it does other things that are beneficial. It's not just a toxin.
But I guess no matter what a thing is, there are different levels of sensitivity, and I get that.
I can drink my morning coffee, but I can't eat potatoes with skins, or tomatoes, or so many "healthy" foods. So we all have sensitivity to different things.
I can't help thinking though, that it's better to choose a really good coffee, proper coffee, not an instant kind. You don't know how they process it or what they put in it!
So one of those (possibly organic?) freshly ground bean-type and not too dark a roast or strong a brew might be better? And then of course, moderation is important as with everything.
Had to give it up for an appointment I had with an eyebrow tattooist, managed the first appointment, but had to cancel the second AND third due to an extremely painful migraine.
A sudden drop in caffeine caused it.
I never did go back for the appointments, stayed with the coffee instead! ☕️ 😉
Maybe, even though you don't like decaf, you could replace one of your cups of coffee with this. You never know, you might get used to it. I drink decaf and can't really tell the difference apart from the fact it doesn't make me shaky like caffeine does.
Hi, I find I can't drink hot coffee during the daytime (I can in the evening though!). I can drink both decaf and regular, that doesn't seem to make any difference for me. But during the day I just drink cold coffee unless I need to go to the loo and then I would have it hot. I just make it like I normally would, sugar, coffee and a little hot water to dissolve it and then fill it up with milk! Works for me, but wouldn't if you don't drink milk but I guess you could use one of the milk substitutes. Just a suggestion.
