despair at the relentless symptoms

currently in the second week of the worst flare up in ages. I feel like crying. It’s just a roller coaster of bloating, sore feeling, cramping pain. Then the sore bottom that results from multiple BM’s a day. I end up losing weight when it gets this bad because my appetite goes and I feel constantly sick. Every time I eat something it triggers one of the range of symptoms! I hate this condition it wrecks my life. Just need to offload. No one who doesn’t suffer from ibs knows what it’s like!

So sorry, Binks! Hopefully the flare up simmers down and you get some relief soon. Meanwhile, you have a community here that really sympathises.

Thank you. the weird thing is, I get the calm before the storm thing going on. A good day - followed by armageddon!

Oh my goodness that was like reading something I would have wrote. I too am suffering a bad flare up and it’s so debilitating! I also suffer from anxiety which as we know is linked to ibs with the gut brain connection, so only makes symptoms worse. I do find peppermint tea does soothe my tummy a bit, so maybe try that.

Sending you lots of love and support as I know how hard it can be x

That's why this is such a good place to post. The symptoms are so random and diverse and so debilitating. Thank you so much xx

I understand completely, I had 20 years of it. Taking drugs everyday couldn't even get on a bus. I was on my own at the time after a bad divorce. Then in 1984 I got married and for a long time I was still depending on drugs that didn't really help but mentally made me think they did. And gradually it got a bit better day by day. So there is hope for you don't give up trying everything you can to mentally fight it and I hope you push through what ever it is causing your problems.
