Hi there, I've been on here a few times with my suffering and after tests, scans, etc, I had another gastro consultant app face to face for another check with my still ongoing left side rib area abdomen pain with upper body from the waist movement, no pain when i cough or sneeze, pain when move to left or right, he has assured me with all my tests and scans that there is nothing to worry of anything bad but still have worry and anxiety, he has forwarded me for multiskeltol check in that area with a physio, anyone any comments?

Sounds like a good plan. To be honest, it's good news that they haven't found anything sinister so look at that as a positive 😊

Thanks viklou, but it's still worrying that I've had this pain in this same area for 12months now, had a few gastro consultations and the CT scan with a contrast didn't show anything, I've now been referred for an appointment with a specialist rheumotoid multeskelton consultant.

Maybe you need an MRI

The gastro consultant who put me through to have the CT scan says nothing has showed up from the pelvic area to the upper digestion area, he said no need for an mri scan. I have the rheumotoid consultant app on the 30th Jan.

A CT scan isn't as clear as an MRI

You really could do with a, small bowel mri as Crohns can be missed. If you're on fb, join Crohns and colitis UK group

I'm still suffering with the same problem. I have recently read about something called splenic flexure syndrome. It's to do with gas getting trapped at the bends in the large intestine. I'm wondering if mine could be that. Have you tried abdominal massage to try and move any gas/faeces along? Does farting bring any relief from the pain?

Hi m, starNo never heard of the splenic flexure syndrome, its something a can ask as I have an app with a rheumotoid consultant on the 30th, the gastro consultant said I didn't need an mri scan as nothing showed on the CT scan, can this be trapped gas in the upper colon and rib digest area hurt when I turn my upper body.

Hi. Yes trapped wind can go high up into the left side and even chest. Your Colon is at its highest part at the splenic flexure (near the spleen). Trapped wind can be excruciating. I suffer with it terribly (along with the constipation). I seem to get trapped at the front part just under my left rib. If I lay on my back and press it it feels hard in that area. I try and move it along by massaging from bottom right, upwards, along to the left and down the left side in a horseshoe shape (abdominal massage). It's not helping much at the moment tho

Exactly the right thing to do. Physios are brilliant. Any time I've visited one, they have got to the bottom of any musculoskeletal pain and fixed me.

I agree re physios. I have that pain (sharp) sometimes in the night or wake up with it, pretty sure its trapped wind as it goes away when I move about ...and yes sometimes massage helps.
