Worried -always

I had IBS for about 6 years and it disappeared around the time I got pregnant (about 6 years ago).

It made life difficult obviously but easier to deal with cancelling plans when you don’t have someone else relying on you/a little person to let down.

The past 6 years have been lovely but after hiding from it for nearly 3 years, I think I have covid. I can’t describe how scared I am that it’ll bring back my ibs and I won’t be able to take my kids to their activities they love (outside and compost loos) or if I do it will be an added level of complexity.

I can feel GI symptoms starting, I’m trying to hold them off as long as possible today as to not wake anyone up. I know this is just anxiety and it might not happen- but it’s my worst fear. (I don’t want anymore children either haha to cure it again)

Just needed to share with people who understand.

I do understand indeed. I must be one of the weirdest people because I actually thought Covid had CURED my IBS !! Yes, not a trace of it while I was fighting Covid or for many weeks afterwards. Mind you, I did get the original Wuhan version, not this new one.

But one thing's for sure. Anxiety can definitely trigger IBS. And with you, I can imagine it's quite a big fear of it coming back, especially as you have a little one to look after.

Maybe you could try something anti-inflammatory and safe, like Slippery Elm? Often there's no inflammation with IBS, but there might be with Covid?

And something to boost the immune system? (maybe not high doses of vitamin C, as that can have a bowel effect. But I found liposomal vitamin C to be much gentler.)

thank you so much for your reply.

Definitely need to do something about the anxiety too - but was it chicken or egg -( was I anxious so I shit myself or shitting myself made me anxious 😬 hahaha). Sorry have to laugh sometimes. Not that it matters why it started. Slippery elm is a good idea!! I think I’ve been not thinking about it so long I kinda forgot things.

Thank you x
