hi has anyone struggled with uti? I have had one since July and now tested positive again for ecoli . I have been on different antibiotics since July. 😢 I’m finding I struggle to go to the toilet(poo) unless I sit in in a weird position with my legs up on a stool and really struggle to go I wonder if it’s a be prolapse as once I’ve strained to get first bit out it’s ok after but then same thing happens again. I constantly feel pressure on my bladder. I was diagnosed with a very long floppy bowel years ago so bad doing colonoscopy tube could only go third way in and they run out of tube. I’ve had a ct scan doesn’t show anything. Sorry if this is too much info 😂but really struggling have an appointment with urologist next week as my gp just keeps giving antibiotics and I think it’s more than that. Any suggestions would be great thank you

uti problem
Do you drink a lot of water? I had constant uti’s and so many antibiotics. All kinds of tests at the hospital. The consultant said to drink a litre and a half of water every day. I now haven’t had a uti for nearly three years but I now have IBS which I think is caused by the amount of antibiotics I took.
There is a group called Embedded /chronic Uti group go on there so many women suffering with this.x
The cycle of gastro problems and UTI’s has been a long-standing problem for me, It seems that the antibiotics for UTI’s exacerbate gut microbiome imbalance and the resulting diarrhea causes UTI’s. I have no answers for this problem, Nerissa. Good luck! Bh
Hi sorry to hear you are going through this. I absolutely hate UTIs and they cause me such stress for some reason. I found that drinking more water helps, especially if I am drinking sodas and coffee. People think I'm crazy, but I always seem to get one if I'm dehydrated and drinking lots of coffee or soda and eating chocolate. For me its a bad combination! I read somewhere that taking a probiotic also can help with UTIs. Not sure how, but hey it's worth a try!
aww thank you. I know it’s horrible and I think everyone around you gets fed up of hearing about it. I’m on a probiotic which really helps with the wind from ins but nothing else at the moment I’ve been taking it for 4 months but I’m carry on taking it because if it helps one thing it’s worth it. I don’t think I drink enough so I’m working on that. Thanks for your reply
I'm working on more water intake too but it's hard. I've had a kidney stone so that should teach me but I still forget to drink water. I don't usually get thirsty, so when I get the munchies sometimes I'm actually thirsty but my body isn't letting me know. Weird, huh?
IBS frequently triggers chronic UTI’s. The feedback loop of UTI antibiotics aggravating gut is endless. Good luck! Beh
