I was diagnosed with IBS two years ago, but I have always had my doubts, so have one or two doctors whom I have visited in the past, I was literally told to get on with it, and offered no medication at all what so ever, my symptoms have slowly got worse over the months, and now I am in chronic pain constantly, and my rectrum is swollen and burning, I have ended up in emergency who think it may be chronic fissures the pain is to much to bare and I end up sobbing for ages even pain killers don’t help, I have been Told that I must see a colorectal surgeon but my doctors at my surgery are painfully slow and I feel I just cannot keep enduring the pain any longer, I am getting house bound with it, and over the last couple of years have lost weight, and dread going to the loo, I really don’t know who to turn to and I feel so tired and stressed about it all.

Really feel for you.....Would you be able to afford a private consultation?
So sorry, that sounds dreadful. Have you had any bleeding at all? If so, your GP should put through an urgent referral for you. If you can afford a private consultation you could probably see someone within 2 weeks but you really shouldn't have to. Perhaps try and make a face to face appointment with your GP so they can see how much pain you are in. I hope you have some luck soon.
Hi Lamly. You shouldnt be suffering the way you are. The hospital have said to see a colorectal surgeon. Go back to your gp and tell them you want a referal. He/she cannot refuse to refer you. Good luck. Also in the meantime read fissures on NHS website only.. i hope you get sorted soon. xx
