Ct scan result

Hi, I've now had my ct scan result from the 23 August and the gastro consultant says all is normal but I've still booked to see him for steps to see what next to help me, I'm still getting the daily pain on the left abdomen and around the ribs that feels like bad stitch pain and certain movements with pain in that area when in the car and turning over in bed, I burp so much during the day and still wonder if gas is causing all this pain? My bowel movements seem OK and regular between 8 and 10am each morning but sometimes later or the day after, still sure this is all caused by worry and anxiety as I have this pain every day and for the last 3 months this rib area pain.

So sorry you’re having such a tough time, Calamity! Have you tried diet changes? The fodmap diet may help identify trigger foods. Personally, I had the same symptoms and have had significant improvement from cutting out lactose. In terms of medication, I found mebeverine helpful. Also, there is medication and/or talking therapy if your IBS is anxiety-related. I didn’t think mine was linked to anxiety originally but now I am seeing a correlation, so I’ll discuss that with the doctor at the next appointment. The last thing is potential gynae problems. Sometimes fibroids in the uterus (very common) can press against the bowel and cause pain. It’s good to investigate that and identify or exclude problems there. So, there are things you can try and hopefully some of them will help. Wishing you good luck with it!

Hi Calamity64, I'm sorry to read about your pain. I've been suffering from similar symptoms but on my right side, right under my rib and it's started off initially like a bad stitch pain, whenever I sneezed, coughed or laughed. It's been going on for several years now and the pain has also spread to my back (exactly opposite to right rib) and towards my central abdomen. I've had liver scans, ultrasounds, endoscopy and doctors say everything looks fine. They suspect it is endometriosis as I've always suffered from very heavy periods and noticed pain gets much worse a week before and during menstruation. Have been prescribed Progestogen-only pill and also Buscopan to relieve cramps. I'm most of the time on painkillers as pain has now gotten so strong. Currently waiting for gyno appt and hoping to get final diagnosis and treatment.

I'm sorry for such a long reply but maybe endometriosis is something you could investigate. Wishing you good luck.

I think stress plays a major part in it, in& out if gastro wards, drips, etc really stressful & doesn’t help with bowel issues at all😰

Yes stress, worry and anxiety I think could be my major issue as I've had this year 2 ultrasound scans and both ok apart from a small fibroid on the rightside but the gyno consultant said no issue there, also fit tests and blood tests all ok and very recently I had a ct abdomen and pelvic scan and gastro consultant said all ok but on the ultrasound and ct scan I seem to av an issue with bowel area gas, gastro consultant says this gas is causing the left side pain and rib pain too, he has mention to me to try milled flax seeds daily for a few months in my porridge or cereal, has anyone tried this to try and xalm the pain, any advise how to take it?
