I think if you can get through on the phone, do speak to your doctor. I am not sure about kidney infection but know you have to be careful with it. Get some advice. If the pain won't go, or gets worse, and no doctor to talk to, then don't be too shy to go to A&E.
I had the same issue regards flank and shooting back pain. Went to A and E and got a ct scan after blood in urine - a small kidney stone was found. Was told to keep drinking water and to eat a diet with less oxalates (read up on this)..Did the trick. Never took antibiotics, wasnt told to. Because i streessed my ibs condition to them.
which must feel annoying given that you've had to unnecessarily take antibiotics when this could have been discovered earlier. Antibiotics really play with your gut bacteria
