After years of gut trouble, being diagnosed with a wheat allergy, I am finally being tested for coeliac disease.

👏👏👏

I hope you get the answer you want, I also have celiac disease and all I wanted was answers. Unfortunately the answers don’t make anything better sometimes. But knowing is half the battle! wishing you better,

Brandy

Thanks Brandy, you are right, answers won't change anything, but if I can just say I am coeliac, without long winded explanations of why I can't eat certain things, it might be simpler? We shall see. I suspect malabsorption has been ongoing for years.

yes, at least it is an answer, and it does help to not have to explain over and over I agree. Malabsorption is a big problem with celiac you are right I am sorry that you are going through this. it does help just to know. Wishing the best for you.

Brandy 😀

have you gotten results yet?

Yes, all 'normal' apart from slightly raised cholesterol. I feel no better, but have a telephone appt on Wednesday. No answers yet. A bit frustrating tbh. Thanks for asking.

you have to be eating gluten for at least 6 weeks before this test for it to be reliable xxx

Yes, I know, and I hadn't. I was not prepared for that test at all. But in any case, eating wheat makes me really ill.

sorry I know how it feels to not know. So you don’t have celiac? That’s great news!

I think the jury is still out. I had eaten spelt spaghetti two days before, but that is not enough for an accurate test. No way I can eat wheat 3 times a day for 6 weeks. I am allergic to it.

yes true, and they of course want you to be eating gluten to do the celiac panel… sorry hun

I have done the Coeliac UK assessment which indicates I could be positive. I have sent this to the GP I am talking to on Wednesday, telling him that I had not prepared for the previous test, which came as a surprise. Fortunately, I can tolerate spelt & rye and have offered to do this in preparation for further testing. He is not a GP I have seen before, so no idea how he will feel about me being proactive.

hope this works for you ! ❤️ Stay positive !
