Hi, I don't usually use the pants but was goggling the other day and found these. I thought they looked very nice. The only thing I find with the pants, is that they can be a bit tight, as I can't bear anything pressing on my tummy!

The silhouette are discrete and ok for a small accident. They are comfy to wear also. Most pants have a fully elastic waist but the heavy flow ones are bulky but you just do what's necessary. I've worn both at times but ok at the minute. My mum had the bulky ones as she was double incontinent. I didn't notice them but she was a larger lady

I' m the same cannot stand tight things on my tummy, I love drawstring joggers and PJ'S as you can adjust it to suit how your tummy is feeling. Also I buy trousers that are a bit too big. Gone are the tight jeans of my youth. ☺

This is an embarrassing problem. I have had flare ups when I have only just avoided an accident. I take 1 loperamide (immodium) in the morning, before going out, if I feel that things are risky. That's enough to settle my stomach and relieve the stress worry too.

I (I'm 69) Don't eat onions or Garlic or Leeks as these foods have the same effect on me. I take one Lopermide in the morning and that gives me some confidence about the day ahead.Good luck

Hi,I've not been caught out since retiring from work a couple years ago but I did then and it's such an awful memory that I block it out. I always had a change of clothes with me and wipes, it was so stressful! I didn't wear pads because it wasn't that frequent and I had no warning.

Anyway now what I do is, after spending an age on the loo (can't be a lot left in me) I wear an extra long thin Superdrug sanitary pad. They are quite reasonable to buy so don't mind changing frequently. So far it's been fine as by that time only a little poo comes out, but I do not even feel it happening.

I also have bad piles too. I've given up with doctors I went around in circles with them ( it's so horrible that we need to talk about this, but in so pleased we have this site so we know we are not alone).

All the best and I look forward to hearing others suggestions.

Xx

I use incontinence pads from Aldi, they come in different sizes and are very reasonable.Agree with others about taking an Imodium ,just gives that bit of confidence when going out.It is all a horrible thing to put up with.

Are you on the low Fodmap diet? Are you dairy, yeast or wheat intolerant? I've had IBS for over 45 years I know how horrible it can be. It can trap you in your home. I won't go far from home and if I have to go to an appointment somewhere I limit my diet for 2 days prior. I have worn pads and They work to a certain extent but they don't really hide the smell of an accident. You can get special pants and pads free on the NHS through your doctor. Meanwhile checkout your diet to make sure you're not eating something responsible for the urgency.

I use Always discrete boutique pants. Like you i wont leave the house during a flare up. I sometimes dont even make it when im at home! I also avoid onions garlic and leeks as per the Fodamap diet. I have a japanese bidet toilet seat which is a godsend. Just replace mine after 4 years when the water wasnt heating.

Usually if I get bloated it is because I have taken something to help open the bowels. Anything with Macrogol in it. I don’t use Movicol or Laxido any more but I am sure it is in many medications. Constipation will make you bloat as well.

Hi Izziethegirl, I have the same problem no control when it comes, I can go four days without a bowel movement , then I get the feeling and often have accidents. I always wear pads day and night. I take mebeverine 135 myself three times a day and liquid loperamide . The problem now is you can never see your GP always over the telephone. Yes it does control your life if I am going anywhere I like you dread what if I poo myself. My daughter is in her mid forties and she is starting with this terrible condition. Please make sure you see your gp and get appropriate medication. Good luck

Hi, although I feel for you all I am so glad to read your comments and know that I’m not the only one with this awful problem. I had a mega embarrassing accident at a shopping centre last summer and have since had a couple more albeit smaller accidents in public since only saved by getting to a toilet soon after. It’s turned me into a very anxious person where I wasn’t before. As I’ve got older my iBS has got worse. I spent three days last week indoors too afraid to go out and missed a lunch date with friends and a music gig. Was only able to leave the house to go to work by taking Imodium two days running although the week before when I took it, it didn’t work which was very worrying. My doctor doesn’t seem very sympathetic and tells me I’m not I’ll. I don’t think he realises how bad you can feel when you have a bad attack let alone how shredded your nerves become. I can’t ever see myself going on any kind of holiday again or actually anywhere to far from a toilet. People who don’t have this awful ailment can sympathise but can’t ever know what we have to endure. I stick to Fodmap safe food too. Thank you for letting me get it off my chest.

As an old bloke who has anal leaks and the very occasional accident, I use long sanitary towels. I would rather put up with the embarrassing issue of wearing the pads than have an accident.I've been using them for so long now, I feel 'unsafe' without one in my pants.
