Well galgo we are all different but I went back to my GP years ago and said Mebeverine tabs are not working for me so he prescribed Mebeverine time release caps, which for me work quicker, relaxes the bowel so transit is slower not quick causing craps and diahorrea. Off course having IBS you never know but at the mo it OK by me

I take mememberine, have done for many years, personally I have not had any side effects, it's actually one of the few things that seem to help, along with silcogel. Sorry you have side effects, maybe speak with your GP and get something different

Best wishes

I had a really bad flare up last Sept the GP says it could have been gastroenteritis. Since then I have had aching and sometimes a cramping feeling in my legs. Went to see Gp last week and she said she has no idea what is causing this. I was waiting for " it could be linked to your IBS" but she did no t say it. It can keep me awake at night so annoying. If you do speak to your GP let us know what they say. Good luck x

Yes I will tell you what she says but I expect her to say something like Meverine doesn't cause leg aches

Hi galgo I take tablets half an hour before meal, also with liquid Immodium, to be honest I want to see my GP as my legs swell and by the end of the day my ankles feel like they are burning. I have never heard of slow acting so I definitely going to try theses. I have just had a bad attack of ibs (having a very stressful time) so taken 10 mls of liquid Immodium.

I was prescribed Colofac which is mebeverine a few weeks back. It made me feel so much worse and I stopped taking them after only five days. I had constant cramps and twinges, far worse than before I started taking them. I was hoping that they would be the ‘magic ‘ pill that would help me lead a normal life. Although it may work for some unfortunately it’s not for everyone.
