Hello to everyone,
Just a message to say I came home on Monday and am very emotional, I keep crying every five minutes. Is this normal and will it get better ?
Love you all

I think it is normal. Your have been under tremendous stress for a number of months - waiting for the operation (and the fear of anesthesia) and then the actual operation, plus knowing that you had colon cancer. I think the crying is a release of all th stress and also relief that you have come through it. It should gradually diminish.
Hi Shaun, I think b1b1b1 has summed it all up perfectly. What you have been through has been huge.
Thank you Maureen xxxxxxxxx
I also agree with b1 b1b1 and think it is a great release for you, maybe things are not quite normal for you yet, you need time to recover physically and mentally. You’ll get there it just takes time, and don’t beat yourself up about it! Very best wishes Mutley
Yes it’s normal. It’s called relief. You have touched the hearts of so many of us who will be here for you if you need us.
Love and best wishes.
Smile is the best medicine for any problem so always keep smiling.
😊
I had a major op last november, I`m still not over it and get depressed at times so give it some time.
I agree with the other comments, this is normal and will slowly get better. I suffered with depression after an operation (just a routine op so without all the additional emotional stress of yours) and when i raised this with my consultant at a 6 week review he said that after an operation the body becomes inflammed as it heals (this is normal and happens to everyone after an injury) but it can often cause low mood and ups and downs emotionally and physically. Its the same reason why say toothache can cause temporary low mood. It is a common part of the healing process. PS - he was right as soon after I felt much better and was back at work, had more energy etc after a couple of months.
