Just wondering if anyone on this forum has tried this with any success? I'm sceptical of a lot of the 'natural' remedies I've read about but really want to avoid any 'heavy meds' that seem to be prescribed for IBS symptoms. I'm keen to focus on something which may help longer term to treat the root cause rather than just mask the symptoms. Am I making sense?!

I've also noticed quite a few people recommend Alflorex on this forum. Does it really help to alleviate symptoms (pain, gas, gurgling, nausea, etc)?

I am still struggling with sleep and hate the side effects of Amitriptyline, which now doesn't help with sleep anyway. I just can't tolerate it. Buscopan helps to reduce symptoms quickly but I know you can't take this long term. Or can you?

Does anyone else struggle with sleeping? I seem OK and relaxed when I go to bed, but as soon as I lay down, the gurgling and cramps start, which are impossible to sleep through .

Sorry, went off topic a bit there!

Alflorex has been a game changer for me and worth giving a try. It has been scientifically studied for IBS.

Hi, I cant comment on other meds mentioned but re. Buscopan, it doesn't work for me personally, but was prescribed 4 a day longterm and my GP said it is safe. Please don't take my word for it- but recommend asking your GP?I have found lowfodmaps reduced a lot of the symptoms (bloating, gas, gurgling etc) but not all (tightness, cramps etc.) though something is better than nothing.

Best of luck
